Celebrating Volunteers Week 2021!
Our team are dedicated to offering their skills by volunteering their help at The Pride of Sefton.
Volunteers’ Week is a time to say thanks to those who go out of their way to volunteer their skills and valuable services across the UK.
The opportunity to uptake training to become a volunteer at The Pride of Sefton became available for employees here at Sovini Property Services.
This training was quickly snapped up by two of our enthusiastic colleagues.
Meet Jane Moss and Paul Halewood
We introduce you our two volunteers Jane Moss, Scheduler and Paul Halewood, Multi Skilled Operative.
We caught up with Jane and Paul to find out why they decided to volunteer and what they’ve enjoyed most about their experience so far.
Why did you choose to volunteer?
“Paul and I had a week on a narrowboat as a holiday last year, and we loved it, so when the opportunity came about to do a course to qualify as crew, we jumped at it.
We love meeting new people, and love giving back to the community; and we get as much out of the trips as the customers. It was also an opportunity to learn a new skill at our age.“
What do you enjoy the most about your work?
“Everyone who comes on board are excited to do so, and you get caught up in that, especially when their are excited children on board.
We love the way it is self contained so you can have a cuppa along the route, and people can bring their own food etc, if it’s a party trip. It really is great fun!”
In three words, how would you describe volunteering at the Pride of Sefton?
“Fun, rewarding, and exciting!”
The Pride of Sefton
As part of The Sovini Group, the Pride of Sefton is a registered charity which offers leisure trips which see passengers travel the hidden waterways of Liverpool, taking in beautiful countryside and urban landscapes between the historic Collingwood and Brunswick Docks.
We are proud to offer complimentary trips for charities and community groups.
