National Careers Week Spotlight: Repairs & Maintenance Co-ordinator, Caitlin Riding

This week we are celebrating National Careers Week, along with Women In Construction Week and International Women's Day. At Sovini Property Services, we are embracing equity and celebrating the talent within our company, regardless of gender.
Currently, women make up around  14% of construction industry professionals. With our innovative initiatives such as Pathway to Construction, we are proud to play a part in helping that number increase. As we grow, we continue to take a stand against inequality and embrace an equal working practice for all.
To celebrate this momentous week, we sat down with Repairs & Maintenance Co-ordinator Caitlin Riding, who enlightened us on her journey throughout the construction industry.

Tell us about your career path into this role?

"I started at Sovini Property Services as Fleet Admin, gaining knowledge of how to organise and manage the 200+ vans we have. Working on fleet, I got to know all of the ops and managers very, well which gave me the confidence to spread my wings. I then moved onto the Gas team where I dealt with investment works, booking installations of the boilers, and gained an insight to project works, including the new sprinkler systems in the high rise blocks. I then moved into my current position as Repairs and Maintenance Co-Ordinator, working closely with the voids team."
What are your short and long-term career goals?

"My short term goals are to get enough experience and knowledge under my belt as possible. My long term goal is to stay with in Sovini Property Services, doing work that makes a difference to other peoples lives."
What career accomplishment are you most proud of?

"What I am most proud of is coming into a managerial role, this has given me the confidence to want to keep growing."
What are the key skills that you have mastered throughout your journey?

"Some keys skills I have mastered throughout my journey is to stay as organised as possible and how to prioritize my work. I feel this is extremely important, otherwise things can easily mount up and get out of control."
If you could go back 10 years, what advice would you give yourself in relation to career development?

"Trust the process!"
What opportunities have been provided by the Group/SPS to support your development?

"Each line manager I have had have all had the confidence in me to allow me to grow, by setting me personal goals which have all been achieved. I had been asked to run investment budgets and project works alongside the client, which was completed successfully."
