Sovini Property Services are Building a Brighter Future for Women

Sovini Property Services is committed to fostering a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. As part of this commitment, we prioritise equality and diversity, and we regularly analyse our gender pay gap data to identify areas for improvement.
Progress on the Gender Pay Gap
Between 2017 and 2024, we have made significant strides in narrowing the gender pay gap. The mean gender pay gap, which represents the average difference in hourly pay between men and women, has decreased from 19.9% in 2017 to 6.76% in 2024.
A Group-Wide Effort
With the support of The Sovini Group, who boast a gender pay gap of -2.7% in favour of women, we have implemented a range of initiatives to empower our employees and create a more inclusive environment. These initiatives have focused on providing opportunities for growth and development, fostering a supportive culture, and challenging traditional gender roles within the construction industry.
Celebrating Women
Throughout 2024/25 we celebrated our colleagues, witnessing two inspiring female apprentices receive prestigious accolades for their contribution to the construction industry.
- Alicia Johnson, Apprentice Plasterer at Sovini Property Services, was awarded Student of the Year by the Federation of Interior Systems (FIS) and the Worshipful Company of Plasterers, for her exceptional skills and dedication throughout her studies.
- Summer Fitzmaurice, our talented Plumbing Apprentice, was also named The City of Liverpool’s Apprentice of the Year at the LiverCool Awards, demonstrating the talent and potential of our female apprentices.
Addressing the Industry Challenge
While we have made progress, we recognise that addressing the gender pay gap is an ongoing challenge across the entire construction sector. We believe that by actively promoting opportunities for women and collaborating with industry partners, we can create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
Looking Ahead
We remain committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. We will continue to monitor our gender pay gap data, analyse trends, and implement new strategies to further reduce disparities. We believe that by fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, we can not only improve our own business but also contribute to a more equitable society.
Mike Dale, Operations Director for Sovini Property Services and Teal Scaffold, said:
“At Sovini Property Services, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. We are committed to creating a workplace where women feel supported and empowered to succeed. By championing gender equality, we are not only creating a more inclusive environment for our employees but also contributing to a brighter future for the construction industry.”
Understanding the Gender Pay Gap and The Road Ahead
The gender pay gap is the percentage difference between average hourly earnings for men and women, and measures salary difference. The UK’s gender pay gap stands at 7.7% in favour of men. We will continue to work towards a future where this gap is eliminated, and all individuals have equal opportunities to succeed.
Kerry Beirne, Chief People and Communications Officer for the Group said:
“We are proud to be leading the way with our gender pay gap, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to gender equality.
At the Group, we strongly believe in equal opportunities for all, and strive to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where all colleagues can thrive.
Throughout 2025, we will continue to champion opportunities for females across the Group and further embed inclusivity into the fabric of our organisation.”
