Sovini Property Services save six local lads from redundancy after Carillion collapse
Sovini Property Services have taken on 6 apprentices from Carillion. The teenagers have commenced a 3-year apprenticeship with SPS and then an ‘Improver Year’ in which they will gain a level 3 NVQ award with the company.
The liquidation of Carillion has caused over 1,141 people in the UK to be made redundant so far, whilst around 11,000 people are still waiting to learn their fate.
Steven Parker, Director of Sovini Property Services said:
“We want to ensure our business and the sectors we work in are sustainable in the future and therefore taking this proactive approach enables us to bridge the skills gap particularly in the trades. As an organisation we are dedicated to creating opportunities for local people. It’s fantastic that we are in a position to take on the apprentices and look forward to seeing them progress in their career with Sovini.”
Sovini Property Services and its parent company The Sovini Group, has a fantastic record when it comes to apprenticeships and employment, having been named the UK’s best workplace outside of London, and in the top ten best workplaces in Europe at the Great Workplace Awards. Sovini Property Services were also named UK Employer of The Year at The CITB Apprenticeship Awards last year.
Kerry Beirne, Head of People and Learning at The Sovini Group said:
“Apprenticeships help us to grow our own talent, reduce staff turnover and give the business the skills it needs to succeed.”
The Sovini Group’s next intake of apprentices will be in April 2018, keep an eye out on our website for any new vacancies.
