Sovini Property Services work with youth group to create Remembrance space for local veterans
Sovini Property Services (SPS), part of The Sovini Group, have partnered with the Brunswick Youth and Community Centre to create a Remembrance space for local veteran’s group, Sefton Veterans.
Launched this year by the Royal British Legion, Grow your Remembrance provides an opportunity for young people to consider what Remembrance means to them and how they can help create a Remembrance space.
Over a dozen young people from the Brunswick Youth and Community centre were asked to take part in a Grow Your Remembrance project sponsored by SPS. After receiving drawings and plans put together by the youth group, the SPS Grounds Maintenance Team purchased a selection of flowers which were then planted in the Remembrance space for the group.
Ellie Griffin, Youth and Community Resilience Officer for the Brunswick Youth and Community Centre, said:
“Our youth group have really enjoyed taking part in the Grow Your Remembrance project. From choosing flowers, pebbles, and garden ornaments to helping provide costings for the garden, this has truly engaged our young people in more ways than one. We look forward to adding to our Remembrance space in future so we can continue to honour those who have given so much to protect our freedom.”
Anthony Payne, Project Manager for Sovini Property Services, said:
“As part of The Sovini Group, SPS play a pivotal role in contributing towards sustainability within local communities and consistently work to improve the environment wherever possible. We’re delighted to have been able to engage with local veterans and young people to help create a positive impact on the environment through our Grow Your Remembrance project.”
The Sovini Group has a long-standing relationship with the Armed Forces community and was the first housing group in the country to be awarded the Gold Award by the Armed Forces Covenant in 2018. To mark Remembrance Day on 11th November, The Sovini Group will hold a special quayside service at Salthouse Dock. Beginning at 10:30am with the arrival of the Group’s community canal boat, the Pride of Sefton, the service will be attended by members of the Armed Forces and will feature a pipe band and bugler to help mark the ceremony.
