Peter’s Pedal Power

Our Operations Manager Peter Baker and ‘The Bar Du Fay Cyclists’ have smashed their target to raise a staggering amount for local charities.

The group of friends, who (in their own words) aren’t the fittest specimens you’ve ever seen are led by Peter and have been raising money over the last five years for a number of charitable causes in the local area.

In June this year they cycled around Holland starting at The Hook of Holland ferry terminal, through Waalwijk, Arnhem and finishing in Utrecht after clocking up approximately 240 miles.

Hoping to raise in the region of £5000 for CHICS Children’s Cancer Support Group based in Bootle, they presented a cheque to the charity for over £14,000! They also made donations of £500 each to ‘Liverpool Veterans’, ‘An Hour For Others’ and ‘The Venus Charity’ taking their total donations over six years to almost £71,000!!

Peter said: “I want to say a massive thank you to all my friends at The Sovini Group who have supported me and The Bar Du Fay Cyclists over the past six years. This year’s challenge was particularly tough but being able to make such a substantial donation to a local charity makes it all worthwhile and we couldn’t do it without your support.”
