WE HAVE REDUCED GENDER PAY GAP BY OVER 10% IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS
SPS has worked hard to drive down the imbalance in favour of male employees, achieving a 10% decrease in the past four years *
In 2020/21 SPS mean gender pay gap was 9.39% in favour of men which is very favourable when compared to construction operatives in general which was 24% in favour of male employees in 2020/21. The median gap was 19.83% in 2020/21 and bonus gaps were mean at 12.26%, median 3.53%, all in favour of men.
It is worth noting, that despite the disruption of Covid-19 and the many employees that were furloughed, it is not believed that this had an impact on the pay gap, according to ONS.
SPS has worked hard over the years to encourage more females to choose a career in this industry, with the on-going Construction Pathway, aimed at providing insight into the construction industry, female leading imagery used in recruitment adverts, as well as an unrelenting commitment from the board to ensure the gap continues to reduce.
“We remain undeterred in our goal to encourage more female representation in a male-dominated industry. This long-term vision will enable us to change the mindset of individuals and redress the balance of the gender pay gap.”
Steven Parker, Managing Director of Operations (SPS)
