National Careers Week Spotlight: Responsive Repairs Supervisor, Kevin Bentley.

As we continue to celebrate National Careers Week, we are shining the light on a selection of our employees and their career journeys with us.
During his career journey at Sovini Property Services, Kevin has gained valuable experience in a variety of roles. These provided vital skills that helped him to secure his current role as Responsive Repairs Supervisor for Sovini Property Services. Read his story to hear how about his accomplishments, advice and what he hopes to achieve in his career.

Can you tell us about your career path into your role?

"After spending a few years a Multi Skilled Joiner, I wanted to progress in my career. When the position came up for a Working Foreman I went for it! This post was on Voids where I had previously worked. I had an understanding of what was needed from me for the business, and this role quickly developed into a more senior role when I was promoted to Assistant Void Manager. I was then offered the chance to move back into Reactive Repairs in my current role, and I am very grateful to Antony Dillon, Mike Dale and Anita Harrison-Carroll for the opportunity."
What are your short and long-term career goals?

"Short-term, I would hope to make a quick and positive impact on reactive, lowering our response times, improving overall customer satisfaction and helping grow the team, that will hopefully lead into long-term performance improvements and more jobs for more people."
What career accomplishment are you most proud of?

"Just being where I am today. I applied for a job originally at Sovini Property Services that I wasn’t, I don’t want to say capable of, maybe ready for. So I started as part of the Window Fitting Team, and thanks to them I am where I am today because of that team spirit and comradery we have."
Have you undertaken any professional qualifications during your career?

"My most recent qualification is the SMSTS, the motivation was easy as it was exciting to be in a new role with new goals and ambitions. There’s another story to this that is probably best not shared, though I was lucky enough to be able to work from home for a week for this training and for my recovery."
If you could go back 10 years what advice would you give yourself in relation to career development?

"This is one of those team building questions that people wince at. For me its hard not to be cliché with these, you know work harder, smarter, more efficiently. But I think all of the things I have gone through over the last 10 years have got me where I am today, and if I were to go back and give myself advice things may be very different, I don’t think I would want that."
What are the key skills that you have mastered throughout your journey?

"Be with my colleagues and my peers, share knowledge and experience with others, I love to support and help others too."
